MCI Expands Specialty Capabilities with Launch of Professional Indemnity Division

MCI is pleased to announce the launch of its Professional Indemnity underwriting division, marking another significant milestone in the continued expansion of its specialty insurance offering.

The new division will be led by Kiran Wignall, who joins MCI in the new year, with more than a decade of experience underwriting professional indemnity risks across the London market. His appointment reinforces MCI’s commitment to building market-leading underwriting expertise and delivering innovative solutions for brokers and clients.

Kiran brings extensive technical knowledge and leadership experience, having most recently served as Head of Professional Indemnity at Orvia Underwriting. Prior to this, he spent eight years at Probitas, progressing to Head of Professional Indemnity, following earlier underwriting roles at Hiscox and Allianz Global Corporate & Specialty.

The launch of Professional Indemnity represents the latest phase in MCI’s strategic growth. Since the establishment of Syndicate 1902 in 2022, MCI has built a diverse portfolio across medical and scientific classes while successfully expanding into broader London market specialty lines.

Over the past two years, the business has continued to strengthen its underwriting capabilities with key appointments across several specialist teams, including international casualty, marine, and political violence.

By adding Professional Indemnity to its portfolio, MCI further enhances its ability to provide brokers with a comprehensive suite of specialist insurance solutions, supported by experienced underwriters and a disciplined approach to risk selection.
