About us

Alessandra is Head of Claims with over 20 years’ London Market experience across Financial Lines, Casualty, Life Sciences, Healthcare, and Environmental risks. She is a qualified lawyer (Italy) and ACII qualified.

Alessandra has built and led high-performing teams, established governance and reporting frameworks, and created the claims function from the ground up (manuals, processes, recruitment). Her track record includes complex and large-loss handling across multiple jurisdictions (focus: US, Canada, Australia), TPA/DCA oversight, operational MI and Board/Reserving Committee reporting, and Lloyd’s regulatory engagement. She partners closely with Underwriting, Actuarial, Compliance and Data & Analytics to drive performance, and engages proactively with clients and brokers on value proposition and service. She speaks English, Italian, and Spanish.

Alice joined MCI in August 2024 as Syndicate Manager. She has over nine years experience in underwriting performance and operations, having held senior roles at Managing Agency Partners, Chord Re, and Asta. Alice achieved her ACII qualification in 2020.

Alvin joined MCI in May 2021 training as an Underwriting Assistant in the General Liability division.

Alvin completed his Undergraduate Degree in Mathematics at the University of Nottingham.

Andy started his insurance career in 1998, and joins MCI for the 2025 year of account, leaving Arch after approaching 3 years. Prior to Arch, Andy spent 23 years at Chaucer Syndicate, firstly working within the Treaty and Political Risk underwriting teams for 10 years, then subsequently focusing on the Political Violence and Crisis Management market. Andy has twice built two of the largest and most profitable portfolios in the Lloyd’s market, during a period of substantial market change, and served as LMA Political Violence Chairperson for 5 years prior to departing Chaucer in 2021.

Andrew is a highly experienced Senior Claims Adjuster with over 25 years in the Lloyd’s market, specialising in high-value and complex claims across D&O, Financial Institutions, Professional Indemnity, Cyber, Environmental, Media, and Casualty lines.

His career includes long tenure at Markel, where he led on multimillion-pound claims, and more recent roles at Crawford & Co and Hamilton, handling global exposures and discontinued business. Andrew has particular expertise in fraud detection, mediation, and litigation strategy, with a proven track record of negotiating large settlements across multiple jurisdictions. He has LLb (Hons) Law and an Advanced Certificate with the Chartered Institute of Legal Executives, and has also recently completed the Certified Cyber Insurance Specialist qualification. Andrew is recognised for his stakeholder management, training, and process improvement skills, and is regularly called upon as a subject matter expert on complex technical issues.

Bhanu joined MCI in August 2022 as an Analyst Developer and is leveraging his data engineering skills in designing, building, and maintaining scalable data infrastructure and systems in cloud technologies.

He has extensive experience as a technical lead on property and casualty, as well as healthcare insurance projects. He has successfully managed large-scale transformation projects, transitioning from legacy to cloud technologies. He shifted his career focus to the field of data technologies and possesses extensive knowledge and experience in the areas of data analysis, data modeling, and data visualization. Bhanu has Masters Degree in Data Science and Analytics from the University of Hertfordshire.

Cam has a broad commercial background, with experience in the entertainment, defence and charity sectors. Just prior to joining MCI as an Underwriting Assistant in 2025, Cam worked as an Account Manager based in Southern China and Hong Kong.

Cam holds a degree in Human Geography from the University of Exeter, specialising in Political Mapping, Arab Nationalism and Islamic studies.

Catherine brings nearly a decade of specialised experience in Fine Art & Specie in the Lloyd’s insurance market. Her career began in 2016 as a wholesale broker at Gallagher, where she developed a strong foundation in placement and relationship management.

In 2021 she transitioned into Underwriting at Chubb Global Markets where she honed her skills across all Fine Art & Specie disciplines, and then joined MCI in June 2025.

Chris started his insurance career in 2007 and joins MCI for the 2025 year of account. He previously spent 13 years at Apollo where he was part of the team which built the original Marine portfolio and later headed up the Cargo account. Prior to that, he worked at Chaucer Syndicates as an underwriter within the Cargo & Specie team. Chris has a track record of outperforming Lloyd’s market average profitability and has been involved with several market committees and initiatives during the last 18 years.

Dan is responsible for the pharmaceutical and clinical trials portfolio at MCI.

In 2000, Dan began his career at Aon in London, and moved to Paragon in 2004. In 2007 Dan joined QBE to work as an Underwriter within the Medical liability team where he was responsible for the day to day underwriting of the Pharmaceutical, Medical Device, and Clinical Trials account on a global basis. Dan was promoted to Portfolio Manager of the Medical Liability account in 2014 where his responsibility was further extended to the Medical Malpractice account.

Daniel is a seasoned claims professional with extensive London Market and broking house experience, specialising in Casualty, Property, Liability, Accident & Health, and Financial Lines. He has managed complex and high-value losses across multiple jurisdictions and markets, including Lloyd’s and company platforms. His expertise spans handling binding authority and open market claims, overseeing TPAs, loss adjusters, and lawyers, and providing detailed performance and MI reporting to senior management and clients.

Daniel has led teams in both broking and claims environments, with strong skills in mentoring, process improvement, and account analysis. He holds a Cert CII qualification and brings a strong client-focused approach to claims management.

Dev brings nearly 15 years of broking experience with Lloyd’s brokers in the London market, following few years in the technology sector within banking in Mumbai. He gained valuable cross-class experience at a niche independent broker specializing in Marine, Energy, Political Violence and Reinsurance for almost five years. In 2015, Dev joined Willis Crisis Management, where he progressed to Executive Director and Deputy Head of the Terrorism and Political Violence Team. In this capacity, he held global responsibility for a substantial team of brokers, overall strategy, managing distribution, business production, thought leadership initiatives and operational functions.

Ed joined MCI in July 2025 as an Accounts Assistant. He brings experience from finance operations roles across multiple industries and is currently studying the CIMA qualification.

He has a focus on adding value through accurate reporting, strong controls and continuous improvement.

Eleanor joined MCI in December 2020 as an Underwriting Assistant under the auspices of the Life Sciences Head of Class. She also works closely as an analyst on the Infectious Disease Liability project. Eleanor completed her Undergraduate Degree in Medical Microbiology and Virology at the University of Warwick, later continuing on to attain her Master’s Degree investigating the Epidemiology of, and Risk Factors associated with Zoonotic Visceral Leishmaniasis infection in Brazil.

Emily joined MCI in August 2021 as Philip Trafford’s Personal Assistant.

She previously worked as a PA at a Lloyd’s insurance broker and started her career as a Legal Secretary in an Employment Law Firm.

Georgia joined MCI in June 2025 as an Administrative Assistant.

With prior experience as a receptionist at a law firm, she brings a solid background in administration and client service. She supports the team with efficiency and attention to detail, helping ensure the smooth day-to-day running of the business.

With over 40 years experience in the cargo and transport liability insurance markets, Graham has wide ranging and international experience.  Joining at the end of 2025 following ten years at Chaucer Syndicate as class underwriter building a very large portfolio entirely from scratch.

Graham was previously employed as Head of Cargo at T T Club where he provisioned the clubs first online cargo insurance product and also was employed by NMU and Allianz Cornhill previously.

Graham will focus on collaborative opportunities and bespoke solutions within the Cargo, Logistics and Transportation lines. 

Harley joined MCI in early 2025 as a trainee data analyst in the operations team, with a stint with the PVT team as an underwriting assistant in the summer of 2025. After completing his A Levels at Mayflower High School, he started his career in insurance.

He has a keen interest in completing CII Qualifications after completing CII CERT in the coming year and progressing in the underwriting sector.

Harry started his insurance career in 2017 as an account handler for an independent Lloyd’s broker, eventually progressing his way up to a delegated binder underwriter during his five-year tenure. In 2022 Harry moved to Starr Insurance Companies taking up a role as an assistant underwriter on their international casualty team.

Eighteen months later Harry joined MCI as an assistant underwriter and has naturally progressed into the role of an international casualty underwriter in 2025, with a focus primarily on Canadian, Australian, Latan and European business, specialising in construction, mining and SME market areas.

Hayley joined MCI in April 2023, where she manages aged debt and supports a variety of operational tasks.

Hayley began her career in insurance at the age of 20 as a Junior Broker in Personal Lines. She has since completed her CII qualification and gained experience across a range of roles, including Account Handler, Claims, and Operations.

James is responsible for the medical malpractice portfolio at MCI.

James started his insurance career in 2010 at Lloyd’s of London and in 2011 moved to QBE to work as an Underwriter within the Medical Liability team where he was responsible for the day to day underwriting of medical malpractice, clinical trials and pharmaceutical liability. In 2014 James became responsible for the medical malpractice portfolio.

James has over 40 years of experience in the London Market across Aviation, Marine, Energy, Casualty, Political Risk, Trade Credit, and treaty business. He has managed complex specialty portfolios and delivered significant reserve savings, as well as developing claims processes from FNOL through to settlement.

James has held senior roles at Premia Re, StarStone/Enstar, and previously worked on delegated authority, run-off, and systems improvement projects. He combines deep technical knowledge of Lloyd’s and company market processes (A&S, ECF2, TRAX, Sequel, Blueprint 2) with a strong focus on operational efficiency and client service. Recognised for his ability to innovate (including fee-collection system improvements) and maintain robust broker and underwriter relationships, James brings a wealth of market expertise and leadership to the claims team.

Jessica joined MCI in August 2025 as a Credit Controller. She brings eight years of experience in the insurance sector, specialising in credit control within both MGA and Lloyd’s environments.

Jessica has built her experience in credit control, working across different underwriting environments to support financial operations.

Jorge started his career at Aon Spain in 2003 as a Junior Underwriter. He moved to Scotland in 2007 were he completed an MBA and continued his career in insurance joining Gallagher as an Accounts Technician.

After several internal promotions, he then transitioned to London in 2015 where he has grown his career in different insurance brokers and MGAs performing various roles within Operations, DUA, Technical Accounts, Credit Control and MI areas.

Kelvin joined MCI in August 2023 as an Accounts Assistant. He brings over 10 years of experience in the finance sector, having previously worked in a range of accounts roles at organisations including AM Best and Gallagher UK.

Kelvin holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Studies and is currently studying towards his ACCA qualification.

Lauren worked with our Infectious Disease team through 2021 helping develop our IDL product and in January 2022 joined the team as our Infectious Disease Practice Leader.

She has 11 years of scientific laboratory-based research experience and previously worked at King’s College London as an immunologist studying Ebola virus and SARS-CoV-2. Lauren has a BSc in Cellular and Molecular Biology from the University of Arizona and a PhD in Immunology from King’s College London.

Luke joined MCI in April 2022 as an Assistant Financial Accountant.

He joins us from Agora where he previously worked as an Assistant Accountant. Luke has worked in the finance sector for 8 years and is currently studying for his CIMA exams.

After completing A Levels, Maisie joined MCI in August 2025 as an underwriting assistant, working in the short tail division.

Since gaining work experience in the insurance field, she has decided to progress in the underwriting sector, with an interest in Specie, Cargo, and Political Violence and Terrorism.

Mark is a Senior Claims Assessor with over 15 years’ experience handling liability claims across Employers’, Public, Product, Motor, and Third-Party Property Liability. Mark is recognised for his cradle-to-grave approach, ensuring early investigations, robust indemnity and liability assessments, and timely settlements. He has also authored claims and training manuals, contributed to system design for liability claims, and delivered consistent bordereaux and compliance reporting for carriers.

Previous roles include Cayton’s Law, Allianz, Gallagher Bassett, and Markerstudy, where he built expertise across both personal injury and casualty claims. Mark holds Cert CII and is known for his practical, proactive handling style and strong relationships with brokers, coverholders, lawyers, and policyholders.

Mark has over 15 years’ experience underwriting Political Violence and select Crisis Management sub classes. Mark joined Aspen Insurance in 2011, worked for several successful start-up MGA arrangements, before joining Markel as a Senior Underwriter in 2022. Mark’s experience of niche MGA sector, and large corporate underwriting, coupled with long term broking relationships in the London market will be an invaluable addition for MCI.

Meg joined MCI in September 2024 as an Underwriter. She joins us from LifeScienceRisk where she worked as an Underwriter with a focus on global pharmaceutical programs.

Prior to this she was at CFC underwriting US Healthcare business and QBE working across both the Life Science and Medical Malpractice teams. Meg has a degree in Biochemistry from the University of Southampton.

Michael joined MCI in January 2025 as an Underwriting Assistant within the International Casualty team.

Michael graduated with a First-Class Honours degree in Economics from the University of York.

Michael joined MCI in July 2023 as an Underwriting Risk Processor & Data Analyst. Working across both MI and Operations, he supports the business by delivering accurate, timely data and insights that inform operational and strategic decision-making.

He works closely with stakeholders to enhance reporting, improve processes, and ensure information is robust, consistent, and fit for purpose.

Molly joined MCI in August 2023 as an Underwriting Assistant, providing support to both the Healthcare and Life Sciences divisions. In April 2025, she advanced to the role of Assistant Underwriter within the Healthcare team, with a primary focus on Medical Malpractice business.

Molly holds an undergraduate degree in Biology and a master’s degree in Oncology from the University of Nottingham.

Oli joined MCI in late 2025 as an underwriting assistant in the short tail division.

After completing his A levels at The Bishops Stortford High School, he started his career in insurance, with a keen interest in PVT and Moveable assets following significant work experience in the sector.

Olivia joined the Specialty division at MCI in July 2025 after four years in the insurance market. She began her career in 2021 working in the Terrorism and Political Violence team at SCOR before moving to Arch Insurance International in 2023 as an Underwriter for that class. Prior to her underwriting career, she undertook a master’s degree in international security from UCL gaining specialised expertise in terrorism and cyber threats. Olivia will focus on bespoke solutions and collaborative opportunities within the Political Violence, Political Risk and Cargo War / Logistics lines.

Owen joined MCI in September 2025 as an Actuarial Analyst and supports the Actuarial & MI team across a range of modelling, reporting, and analytical activities.

Owen holds a First-Class Honours degree in Mathematics from the University of Manchester and is currently progressing through the IFoA qualification pathway.

Paulvir has over a decade of experience leading actuarial and MI teams. He began his career at HDI Global SE and has held senior leadership positions at Lloyd’s Syndicate IQUW and ERS.

He holds an Executive MBA from London Business School and is a Fellow of the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries.

Phil started his insurance career in 2000. In 2004 Phil moved to QBE to take up a role as pharmaceutical underwriter within the company operations. The role expanded over the next 10 years, initially into medical malpractice and management of the medical liability portfolio and then additionally into the International liability space where he was responsible for the Canadian liability portfolio. Phil established MCI in 2014.

Phil previously worked for Barbican’s Lloyds Syndicate 1955 where he was responsible for the oversight of MCI.

Rebecca joined MCI in December 2021 as Director of Finance and Operations. She joins us from Aspen Insurance where she previously worked as the Syndicate Financial Controller.

Rebecca has 15 years’ experience in the insurance industry and is a fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (FCCA).

Ryan joined MCI in August 2022 as an Underwriting Assistant.

Ryan previously worked in the recruitment sector before making the decision to progress his career in insurance.

Simon joined MCI in September 2025 as Head of IT.

He is responsible for overseeing the company’s technology strategy, infrastructure, IT operations, and information security. Simon has been working in the Lloyd’s insurance market since 2013, across a number of syndicates, and brings a wealth of experience working closely with teams across the organisation. He focuses on delivering practical, reliable technology that improves efficiency and enables people to do their jobs effectively and securely.

Stuart joined MCI in November 2025  and brings 15 years of market experience, Stuart started his insurance career at QBE and after spells on the Lloyd’s of London graduate scheme and handling claims at Ark, spent 10 years at Probitas overseeing the London International Casualty portfolio.

With experience of being at Probitas from start-up through to an established market leading position, Stuart brings strong portfolio management skills and an overarching focus on securing profitable growth. Stuart is ACII qualified and is a fluent Spanish speaker.

Tom joined MCI in January 2022 as an Underwriter, working alongside the Heads of Class to provide underwriting support across the growing MCI book.

He joins us from CFC Underwriting where he worked as a Life Science Underwriter, with a focus on both Professional Indemnity and Product Liability. Tom has a degree in Biomedicine from the University of East Anglia.

Tom joined MCI in May 2025 as Underwriting Performance Manager.

He began his career at Atrium Underwriting in 2014 and later moved to Dale Underwriting Partners, gaining experience across Syndicate, Actuarial, and Operations functions. He later helped establish a family retail insurance brokerage, which was successfully sold. Tom gained his ACII qualification in 2020.

Vanessa brings over eight years of specialist experience in the Lloyd’s and environmental insurance market, supported by a strong academic background in environmental management. Before joining MCI, she held underwriting roles with leading Environmental teams at The Hartford and SCOR, focussed on EIL portfolio growth and strategic development across key regions.

At MCI, Vanessa is responsible for establishing and growing the syndicate’s new Environmental Impairment Liability practice, shaping underwriting strategy, and strengthening MCI’s casualty and environmental capabilities. Vanessa also leads MCI’s sustainability initiative and supports the syndicate’s ESG ambitions.

Vanessa holds a Master’s degree in Risk, Disaster & Resilience from UCL, and a Bachelors degree in Environmental Management.

William joined MCI in February 2025 as a trainee data analyst in the operations team. After completing his A levels at the King John School he started his career in insurance.

He is keen to complete his CII qualifications and progress his career within the underwriting sector.
